HOW TO JOIN NEW WORLD
This faith community desires to walk with you as you journey the road of faith. We seek to do that through worship, learning, study, prayers, service and missions, and fellowship. Naturally, there comes a time when God calls us to make a commitment to our faith walk. We invite you to make that commitment with this body of believers. And with you, we renew our commitment to walk closer to Christ.

Rev. Erin Sloan Jackson – erin@nwumc.org
They will explain the process to become a member of the body of believers at New World United Methodist Church.
-
- You may choose to first go through an Orientation about the United Methodist Church, its history, and the particulars about New World and its history. Rev. Leslie Byrd leads this Orientation process. It is approximately 2 hours long and can be scheduled through Pastor Leslie. It is not required, but informative and helpful.
- If you are joining as a first-time Profession of faith, you will be asked to respond to historic questions asked, and then you will be baptized into the faith. We honor all 3 forms of baptism in the United Methodist Church, (sprinkling, pouring, and immersion) but would need to secure a location for immersion in advance. We can schedule your baptism at a time when family can be present to celebrate with you.
-
- If you are transferring your membership from another church, it is helpful to the previous church if we send a letter of transfer. If you do not have the name and contact information for us to send a letter, it is not required. We will transfer you as a “Member of another United Methodist Church” or “Member of another denomination.”
- If you are a college student in this area, or living in our location temporarily and you wish to join this congregation, but retain Professing membership at your home church – which would be Methodist/United Methodist, you may join as either an Affiliate or Associate Member as long as you reside in this area.
- Membership means that you are a part of this body of believers and the household of God, and agree to faithfully support it and participate in the ministries by your Prayers, Presence, Gifts, Service, and Witness.
